Hand painted Roly-Poly dolls, like weebles, wobble but they don't fall down!!!
This is a toy with weight attached to base causing it always to recover its standing and to make a pleasant sound. In work the artists used tempera with egg emulsion and fine polecat brushes.
All the drawings of this item are made by the real artist so delicate and subtle, that as a whole the doll is just breathtaking! Everything is shining and sparkling.
A scene from the famous folk Russian fairy tale "Kolobok" is depicted on the item. Grandmom has baked Kolobok (Round Loaf)- a kind of little round bun or cake and placed it on the window. Kolobok decided to go for a walk, jumped from the window and rolled on the road. On the way it met a Bear, a Wolf, a Hare and a Fox. The Fox finally ate Kolobok.
