If you have been lucky enough to sample Georgian wine, then words like Tsinandali, Mukuzani and Akhasheni may be familiar. Winemaking has deep roots in the fertile valleys of the Caucasus. In fact, preserved grape seeds and vines found in Georgia have been carbon dated back to 7000 BC.
There are more than 60 commercially produced wines and nearly 500 varietals in Georgia. Georgian wines have been a favorite among Russians and Eastern Europeans for centuries and were savored by Tsars and Apparatchiks alike.
