In the Medieval Russia an image of the Crucifix played an important role in the life of every Christian, from the very birth to the death. That is why cross was the most popular and at the same time the oldest type of cast brass artifacts.
Russian people revered saints and considered them to be a support of the country. All over the Russian land, from the White Sea to the distant borders of Siberia, they prayed to the icons that bore saint's images, addressed to them with both their joy and sorrow. Unfortunately, the last century erased from the folk memory that very special attitude to cast brass artifacts people used to have for the entire millennium.
