One of the most prolific painters we have, Belov has been painting at the workshop since 1993.
Here is a brief history of his painting pursuit.
Yuri P. Belov was born in the cold November morning in 1959 in Leningrad (Saint-Petersburg now),
Russia, where is now living and working. His educational profession is editor-printer.
Generally speaking, as far he remembers himself, he has been drawing always and everywhere.
He took a great interest in miniature painting during the years he spent learning his
editor-printer profession. After having finished his studies he understood: "That is not
my subject!" Some book drawing courses had dotted his "i's" and crossed his "t's", and now
he understood that his hobby had to be his captivate career and the pursuit of his whole life.
About ten years were spent in the search of the application for his hands and mind.
During this time he was working and studying the art of lacquer miniatures, graphics,
painting and attendant accompanying crafts, such as wood processing, joinery, lacquering, etc.
Children birth in the family gave an impulse to the child themes in his creative work. That time Yuri was working at the cinema association "Lenfilm", at the child filmstrips studio. He created some masterpieces about Russian fairy tale's motives. Some time later he illustrated the ABC book by S. Marshak. Unfortunately because of economic reasons the edition has not been published. It came to nothing more than some author copies. However, in spite of these difficulties, that period of his life can be considered very successful and interesting.
Since 1993 Yuri has been generally working with the lacquer miniature painting. Paintbrush #1 became his main instrument. Among his miniature topics are rural and urban lyric landscapes, animal world, genre painting and portraits prevail.
Lately he specializes in wild life and domestic animals images (cats, dogs etc.)
The creative process is complicated, and takes the biggest part of his day
(twenty-four hours he states). The small quantity of boxes he produces depends on
this much time, see his images below and enjoy them.
